Wlodawa, Poland
We davened in the beautiful shul in Wlkdawa. The Aron was ornately painted with different Jewish symbols. Rav Brown then introduced the themes for today: rebellion and evil. He told the strory of the Rebbe M'Radzin, who condemned any sort of cooperation with the Nazis and urged his people to escape to the woods and fight. Though he was unsuccessful and ultimately killed, he served as a symbol of hope to numerous communities throughout the Shoah.
