The Power of Song

Lezansk, Poland

On the way to the grave of Rav Elimelech, we learned that he asked that people rejoice when they come to visit their graves. So on the way we sang plenty of chassidish nigunim to prepare. When we arrived, we all broke out into song and danced and sang some of the crowd favorites. Rav Kaplan also requested that we sing in honor of a chatan and kallah who were getting married tonight and signing "Od Yishama" with everyone was really beautiful. Then we said a tefilah that Rav Elimelech wrote aloud and all together, which was also inspiring. Then we wrote notes which we left on his grave. Alison then went to visit her grandfather's house, which was five minutes away from the cemetery. She then shared his story with us.
